January 8th - Ulster Museum Visit.
10th Mar 2026
Year 6 visited the Ulster Museum on Thursday 8th January. We had an Egyptian lecture given by Sharon who allowed the children to handle different artefacts like canopic jar lids, different amulets, shabtis and a scarab beetle. The children also had the opportunity to perform different jobs from Ancient Egyptian times like scribes, make-up artists, embalmers, pyramid painters and jewellery makers.
After the lecture we proceeded to the museum’s Egyptian room to see ‘Takabuti’ the Egyptian mummy. The children were very respectful and interested in all the artefacts on display. Before leaving the museum we had lunch and then a visit to the ‘Discover History Zone’ - Year 6 dressed up in Victorian clothes and suits of armour. They played with toys from previous decades and had a great time. Our last port of call was the gift shop and then it was time to return to school. Such an enjoyable trip as the children were so well behaved; they answered Sharon’s questions accurately; participated enthusiastically and were their inquisitive selves.
